Martin vs Weatherford

Game Summary
The Championship game of the Duncanville Tournament pitted the Martin Warriors against the Weatherford Kangaroos. The Roos had three singles in the top of the first and one run. The Warriors saw Ryan Walker reach on a walk and singles by Tyler Wilhelm and Trevor Slocum. Martin was also able to push 1 across home plate to even it up at 1 – 1 after one. The Weatherford Kangaroos hit a single and a triple in the second to once again put up 1 run. For the Warriors, Tony Rizzotti and Dillon Dawson both hit singles and Eric Jeske hit a 2 RBI double. Jeske later scored on a wild pitch to bump the Warriors ahead 4 – 1. In the top of the third the Roos went down in order all hitting to second baseman, Jordan Hasler who took care of business each time. The Warrior half of the inning saw Wilhelm hit a single and later score on a wild pitch, walks issued to Slocum and Hasler followed by a double by the pitcher, Chris Micheal which scored both Slocum and Hasler. Rizzotti and Dawson both followed with singles of their own with Felix Martinez, who was running for Micheal, scoring on Dawson’s and Rizzotti scoring when Jeske hit a deep SAC fly to right/center field. Dawson also crossed home on a wild pitch bringing the score to 10 – 2 after three innings. The first three Kangaroos faced in the fourth inning were able to hit singles but the next three batters were put out. The Roos were able to get two of their runners home during the inning. The Warriors followed with a double from Slocum but he was left stranded at the end of the inning. During the fifth inning the lead off batter for Weatherford hit a single but could only advance to third before the third out. The Warriors were able rack up a couple of insurance runs with walks to Rizzotti and Thompson and singles from Jeske and Walker to bring the score to 12 – 8 after 6. During the top of the seventh the closer, Matt Kazmierski, stroke out the first batter he faced. The second batter hit what looked to be a gapper to left center field, but Jeske got on his horse and tracked it down making a spectacular diving catch for the second out. The final batter for the inning and the game hit a ground ball to Rizzotti at first who fielded the ball and made the out unassisted. Final score 12 – 8 to make the Martin Warriors the Duncanville Tournament Champions once again.
