Martin vs Mansfield

Game Summary
Chris Micheal went the distance for Martin against the Mansfield Tigers in Martin’s second game of the Burleson Tournament. The Warriors were unable to score in the top of the first and Trevor Slocum was left stranded after drawing a walk. Mansfield had two hits in their half of the first and were able to push one across the plate. Micheal started out the second with a single and Dillon Dawson, running for Micheal, stole second and third and was able to score on a beautiful bunt laid down by Ryan Walker, who also was safe. Jordan Hasler followed with a single but was doubled off a couple of batters later. Mansfield answered with a run in the bottom of the second. Eric Jeske started the third inning with a lead off walk and scored on Trey Thompson’s single. Again the Tigers were able to turn a double play holding the Warriors to one run. Martin didn’t give up any runs in the third making it 2 – 2 after three full innings of play. Micheal walked to get the fourth inning underway. Dawson, once again running for Micheal moved to second on a wild pitch, advanced to third when Walker reached on an error and scored giving Hasler an RBI although he was thrown out at first. Mansfield answered with a score of their own keeping the game tied after four. The Warriors broke it open during the fifth starting with singles from Felix Martinez and Jeske. Slocum got an RBI with a line drive double down the third base line. Trey Thompson followed with a walk and Tyler Wilhelm with a RBI single. Micheal also drew a walk and later scored on Hasler’s single. The Tigers left two stranded in the fifth. During the top of the sixth Martinez started with a double and scored on Jeske’s single. Slocum followed with a single when time was called making the final 9 – 3, Martin over Mansfield.
