Martin vs LD Bell

Game Summary
Tony Rizzotti faced the L.D. Bell Blue Raiders for the first 4 innings at the JV team’s first home game for the 2008 season. Bell batters got a single and a double during the top half of the first inning to go up 2 – 0 going into the bottom of the first. The first three Warrior batters put the ball in play but hit right at Blue Raiders for easy outs. After one out in the second inning the Blue Raiders were able to put a runner on base by drawing a walk but the next batter hit into a well executed 5-4-3 double play. The Warriors got on the board in the bottom of the second with a couple of walks, some stolen bases and a well timed pass ball. Bell went back up by 2 in the third with two singles. Eric Jeske started the third inning for the Warriors with a double and then moved to third on a balk but Martin couldn’t capitalize on this situation and Jeske was left stranded. Rizzotti retired the side, 1 – 2 – 3 in the top of the fourth followed by the Warrior ˝ of the inning seeing Ryan Walker hit a single and also being stranded. L.D. Bell was able to push three more across the plate before the top of the fifth was over. The Warriors were not able to add to their score this inning going down in order. The Blue Raiders once again went to the plate swinging and added three more runs. Jeske hit a single and later scored on Walker’s single to bring the score 9 – 2 at the end of six innings. Trevor Slocum came in for the Warriors during the 7th inning and gave up one hit and no runs. The Martin Warriors were able to put five runners on base with 3 walks, a Blue Raider error and a Trey Thompson double and were able to get three Warriors home before the end of the seventh inning which fell short for a Warrior victory.
