Martin vs Duncanville
Game Summary
Dylan Rucker got the call for the district match up with the
Duncanville Panthers and he answered with a no hitter, striking out 6 in 7
innings of play. He walked 4 and hit a batter but the most important thing is
the goose egg in the Hit column.
During the first inning Ryan Walker drew a walk but was left stranded. During
the second half of the inning the first Panther hit to Alec Shurack at second
who threw on to Tyler Wilhelm at first for the out, the next batter walked and
the next batter hit down the middle where Shurack made a good play to get to the
ball and to throw to Wilhelm once again for the second out. The next Panther
walked but was thrown out at second when the next batter hit to Rucker on the
mound who then threw it to Shurack for out number two. Then Shurack threw to
first but the double play was not completed. Meanwhile the other Panther runner
was trying to take home but Wilhelm threw to Trey Kensing at the plate who put
the tag on the runner to keep it 0 – 0 after one inning of play. Trevor Slocum
hit a single to shallow right field to start the second inning followed by
Rucker, who worked the count full before drawing a walk. Later Kensing was up
with 1 out and two runners on base. He hit a long sacrifice hit to right field
that scored Slocum. During the bottom of the second after two outs Rucker put
two runners on base, one walk, one hit by pitch, but was able to strike out the
next batter looking to keep the score 1 – 0 after 2. The Warriors added three
fly balls to the outfielders to take the total Warrior outs from fly balls to 8
in three innings. The Panthers went down in order with a fly ball to Eric Jeske
in center, a fly ball to Trey Thompson in right and a ball hit to Slocum at
third who threw the runner out at first. The fourth saw the Warriors go down in
order with another fly ball to left field and two balls hit to the Panther third
baseman. Jeske caught another fly ball to rack up the first Panther out of the
inning followed by Slocum charging a bunt to throw out the runner at first. The
next Panther got on due to the only Warrior error of the night but the fourth
batter once again hit to Slocum at third who fielded the ball and threw out the
runner once again to keep the score 1 – 0 Warriors. During the top of the fifth
Alec Shurack and Jeske both got on with walks but were left stranded. Rucker
caused the first two Panthers to hit ground balls, one to Rucker and one to
Slocum for 2 outs. Rucker struck out the third batter to move it to the sixth
inning. Slocum got his second hit of the evening only to be doubled off to send
it to the bottom of the inning. Rucker had his second 10 pitch inning in a row
with a pop up to Shurack at second, a fly out to Dillon Dawson in right field
and a ground ball that Ryan Walker fielded at short then threw out the runner a
first. Shurack hit a single during the top of the seventh but the Warriors were
unable to add to their 1 run lead. Rucker didn’t need any security runs, he
walked one batter during the inning but also struck out three swinging to make
the final 1 – 0 Warriors.
