Martin vs Cedar Hill
Game Summary
The Cedar Hill Longhorns came to the Diamonds at Martin to face the
Junior Varsity Warriors in a district match-up. Tyler Wilhelm started on the
mound for the Warriors and got the win. During the top of the first inning four
Longhorns came to the plate, the first one watched the third strike go by and
the second went down swinging. The third Longhorn up drew a walk then Wilhelm
wrapped it up by striking out the next batter swinging. Ryan Walker hit a
single, stole a base and scored when Cameron Shultz followed with a single to
start the bottom of the first. Shultz moved to second on an error and on to
third on a wild pitch then gave a RBI to Trey Thompson when he grounded out to
second base. The Longhorns struck out twice, walked twice, grounded out to
Wilhelm on the mound and scored one in the second. The Warriors answered with
singles from Tony Rizzotti and Walker. Dillon Dawson and Shultz reached on
errors and Felix Martinez had a sac fly to right field for a total of three runs
for the home team in the bottom half of the inning. The third inning saw one
Longhorn hit and three reach on walks and three come across home plate to make
the score 5 – 3 Warriors after 2 ½ innings of play. The Warriors answered with
singles from Wilhelm, Trey Kensing, Rizzotti, Alec Shurack and Walker, which was
his third hit in as many innings. The home team added four runs during the third
inning. The fourth inning saw Trevor Slocum come in to relieve. The first Cedar
Hill batter tried to stretch a single into a triple when the ball initially got
past Matt Kazmierski in left field, who then relayed in to Walker who then went
on to Shultz at third to tag the runner. The next batter flew out to Kazmierski
and the next Longhorn hit a single down the middle but was left stranded when
the last Longhorn batter of the inning popped up to Rizzotti at first. In the
bottom of the fourth Thompson worked the count full and drew a walk followed by
a double from Slocum. Kensing hit an RBI single and Rizzotti took four straight
balls to get on base. Dawson hit a 2 RBI single and then later Walker once again
hit a single and also got an RBI to score a total of 5 in the Warrior half of
the fourth inning. Slocum stuck out the first two batters he faced in the top of
the fifth and the third batter hit to first baseman, Rizzotti who threw to
Slocum at first base to end the game with the Warriors run ruling Cedar Hill 14
– 4 after 4 ½ innings of play.
