Martin vs Bowie

Game Summary
The Warrior JV team took the show to the road and took on the Bowie Volunteers at their home field. The Warriors came out swinging and put 5 on the board during the top of the first with singles from Travis Yost, Ryan Walker and Trevor Slocum. Trey Thompson and Tyler Wilhelm both reached with walks. Kyler Chatham hit into a 6-3 ground out but racked up a RBI. The pitcher, Dylan Rucker got on due to a Vols error but was left stranded. During the bottom of the first Rucker did give up a double but surrounded it with three Ks so there was no harm done. Martin started back at the top of the line up with walks to Yost and Walker followed by a one run single from Thompson. Slocum added two runs with some aggressive base running by Walker and Thompson, when he was thrown out at first by the third baseman. Rucker put the Volunteers away in order with three strike outs in the bottom of the second inning. The third started out with the Warriors also going down in order. Bowie put their first batter on with a walk. This runner stole second and took third on a sac bunt. He then scored when the next Volunteer hit a single down the middle. This was the lone score for the Volunteers all night. The fourth inning once again started at the top of the line up for the Warriors. Yost started it out with a double followed by Walker’s single down the middle scoring Yost. Thompson hit another single and scored on Wilhelm’s ground out. Trey Kensing hit a single towards third base and Chris Micheal, running for Kensing scored when Rucker followed up with a single. Dillon Dawson was put aboard due to a Vols’ error and Jordan Hasler hit a single. Dawson and Hasler where both left on base. The Bowie Vols once again went down in order with a groundout from third to first, a strike out and first baseman, Tony Rizzotti making the last out of the inning unassisted. During the top of the fifth Felix Martinez hit a single but was left on base. Rucker put a couple of Vols on during the bottom of the fifth, one with a walk and one with a hit by pitch but also struck three more Vols out to make it 13 – 1, Martin run ruling Bowie, at the end of five innings of play. Rucker struck out a total of 11 Volunteers in 5 innings. He walked 2.
