Game Summary
The Might Freshman Warriors faced the Vikings in their 1st District Match
up of the year. Aaron Warren took the hill Warriors, pitching a complete game
shut out. The Warriors jumped out to a 2 run lead beginning with Warren hitting
a single to knock in Russell Bellomy who was hit by a pitch. Nathan Gourley then
hit in Keith Carney, who had ripped a double, on a single. The bats were silent
in the 2nd for the Vikings. The Warriors had a couple of singles delivered by
Travis Barkhurst and Carney but were unable to score either. The bats were
silent for both teams in the 3rd with solid pitching and defense from the
Warriors. The Warriors snagged 1 run in the 4th with a single from Carney
scoring Barkhurst who had walked. Defensively the Warriors caught 3 fly balls at
3rd, Left Field and Catcher to help out the pitcher. The Warriors picked up 1
more run in the 5th with Brady Harvey scoring on a pass ball after hitting a
single and stealing his way around. Bottom of the 5th the Vikings got their 1st
hit of the game but the runners time was short on base when Gourley threw him
out trying to take 2nd. 2 more fly balls later to right and center and the
inning was done. In the 6th inning the Warriors produced 1 single from Lance
Mardock but were unable to bring him around to score. Defensively, the Warriors
gave up 2 hits but were able to capitalize on a couple of fielder’s choices and
a K by Warren to shut any scoring drive down. Daniel Chamberlain and Warren
stroked singles in the 7th but was left stranded on base. Defensively in the 7th
Gourley caught a pop up behind the plate for the 1st out. 2nd batter knocked a
single but didn’t get to land on second because the next batter hit into a
double play to end the game.
