Martin vs DeSoto
Game Summary
The Mighty Warriors were out for revenge against the team that handed
them their only loss for the season, the Desoto Eagles. Alex Bradley was on the
mound for the Warriors and pitched the whole game with a solid defense behind
him. The Warriors came to play in the top of the 1st with 5 base hits starting
with a single from Keith Carney. He was thrown out at 2nd trying to steal giving
the Warriors a quick 2 outs. Aaron Warren followed up with a single, to be
advanced by Nathan Gourley who also hit a single. Brady Harvey picked up 2 RBI’s
by hitting a double. He came in to score from a single by Travis Barkhurst. The
Eagles offense was shut down with a 3 up/3 down bottom of the 1st with 2 K’s.
Russell Bellomy started the 2nd for the Warriors by knocking a double but was
left stranded. In the top of the 2nd the Eagle bats woke up with 2 base hits but
were unable to score. Top of the 3rd had Harvey hitting a single and scoring on
an error by the Eagle defense. Bottom of the 3rd , the Eagles scored 3 runs on 1
hit. 2 hit batters gave the Eagles 2 free base runners. Top of the 4th there
were no runs for the Warriors as they failed to capitalize on 3 2-0ut walks.
Bottom of 4 the Eagles were shut down with a 3 up/3 down inning. Andy Trimm led
off the top of the 5th with a single and was able to score after a Carney single
and error on the Eagle defense. In the bottom of the 5th the 1st Eagle batter
ripped a shot but was shut down on the relay from the outfield to Bellomy to
Carney at 3rd when he was caught trying to take 3rd. 3 Eagle batters later, the
Warriors were back up to bat. Top of 6th Lance Mardock led off with a single.
Trimm followed with an infield single. Daniel Chamberlain then ripped a double
to score Mardock. Bellomy followed with a Triple to score 2. The Warrior defense
kept the Eagles silent in the bottom of the 6th to end the game.
