Martin vs Burleson
Game Summary
In the Championship game the Warriors faced the Burleson Elks. The
Freshman
battled hard against the Elks and jumped to a 1 run lead by taking advantage of
walks and an error by the Elks. The 2nd inning was slow offensively
for both teams with no runs being scored. In the 3rd Nathan Gourley threw
out a runner trying to steal 2nd to end the top of the inning for the Elks.
The Warriors scored 2 runs on an error committed by the Elks outfield when Brady
Harvey flied to center which scored Alex Bradley who had reached on a walk and
Jerid Watson who singled. In the 4th and 5th innings the Elks scored 4 runs
while the Warriors were held scoreless. Russell Bellomy came into the
game to pitch for the Warriors in the 5th. The Warrior bats came alive in the
6th inning with a double from Josh Beckham and singles from Emilio
Vialpando and Keith Carney. Brady Harvey and Russell Bellomy reached
with walks with the Warriors scoring 4 runs that inning. The top of the
7th inning had the Freshman working to maintain their lead. They gave up
2 runs, winning a close one over the Elks to win the Championship.
Bradley came in to close the game down for the Warriors during the 7th.
