Martin vs Arlington

Game Summary
It was the 2nd district match up for the Warriors and the Arlington High Colts for the Mighty Freshman this season and Keith Carney was on the mound for the Warriors. The Colts jumped out with an early lead in the 1st with 3 base hits. They scored 2 runs in the top of the inning. The Warriors were unable to capitalize on the 2 base runners they had in the 1st inning and were sent back out to the field with no runs.
Top of the 2nd the Colts tagged 3 more base hits. The Warriors had their 1st error of the night that didn’t help their cause. The Colts were able to come out with another 2 runs. The bats were silent in the bottom of the 2nd for the Freshman with 3 up/3 down. The top of the 3rd the 1st 2 batters for the Colts were retired but another error allowed a runner to be put on. Nathan Gourley took care of that by throwing the runner out in an attempt to steal 2nd. Lance Mardock ripped a double to begin the bottom of the 3rd to be advanced by 3 walks score. The top of the 4th the Colts came out swinging and with 2 errors committed by the Warrior defense, 2 runners were allowed on. Luckily a pop to short and double play shut the Colt attack down. In the bottom of the 4th the Warrior offense began to show life (with a little help from the Colts pitcher). The 1st 3 batters were put on by walks. Russell Bellomy had an infield single that scored 1 of the runs with Carney and Aaron Warren following up with 2 more singles to score 3 more. An error on the Colts defense allowed 1 more run in for the Warriors to put them in the lead. Top of the 5th was a 3 up/3 down inning for the Colts offense, with 3 routine infield plays by the Warrior defense. Bottom of the 5th Mardock reached on a single but was quickly picked off by the pitcher. Bellomy knocked a double but was put out at 3rd when he ran on a single from Carney. Carney’s stay on 1st was short lived when he was picked off by the Colt’s pitcher also. Top of the 6th was an uneventful one for the Colts offense with no hits. In the bottom of the 6th the Warriors were not able to score on an opening walk and single by Brady Harvey. Top of the 7th the Warriors committed 2 errors defensively which allowed a Colt run to score. The Warriors were able to come out ahead in one of their closest victories of the season!
