Martin vs Lamar

Game Summary
 The final district game was played at Lamar. Jay Hiller moved up in the lineup to the lead off spot and led off with a single up the middle. He stole second while Mike Chovanec was at bat. Chovanec hit a two run homer to get the Warriors on the scoreboard. The only other Warrior to get on base in the 1st inning was Chase Brown who reached base on an error by the short stop. The 2nd inning the Warriors were out after three batters. Hiller led off again in the 3rd with a base hit to left center and again stole second. He was left on base as the next three batters were retired. Brown started off the 4th with a walk and a stolen base. Daniel Garcia came to the plate next with a single to right center. Tanner Hapeman went in to pinch run. Ragira then hit a sacrifice fly to right and scored Brown. Jake Mizell struck out bringing up Chase Jensen. Hapeman attempted to steal third and was thrown out before Jensen finished his at bat. In the 5th Hiller got another base hit. Witte got the only other hit of the inning and scored Hiller, but was thrown out trying to stretch it to second. Brown was the first on base in the 6th with a walk. He got a couple of stolen bases and scored on Garcia’s base hit to right center. Hapeman went in as pinch runner again. Ragira was up next and hit a single to left after a pitching change. Mizell then laid down a nice sacrifice bunt putting the runners in easy scoring position when Paul Gonzalez came to the plate. He hit a double up the middle scoring two runs. Gonzalez was left on base as Hiller made the last out. The Vikings held the Warriors in the final inning with three up and three down.

Shane Griffin led the Warriors on the mound and struggled a bit with four hits, with two being home runs. He allowed one walk, hit one batter and struck out two in two innings. Stewart Person came in relief and along with good defense, kept the Vikings from scoring again. Person allowed two hits, had three walks and nine strikeouts. The final play of the game was a hard grounder hit between short and third that Witte fielded and made a good throw to Chovanec who made an excellent stretch to get the out – it was beautiful!

The Warriors end district play undefeated!
