Martin vs Marcus

Game Summary
The championship game was familiar territory for the Warriors as we were in the same position last season. In the 1st inning only Jantzen Witte reached base on an error by the third baseman. The 2nd inning Chase Brown led off with a single to right center and then stole second during Daniel Garcia’s at bat. Brown ended up scoring after a couple of wild pitches and Garcia reached base on balls. Jay Hiller was up next with a sacrifice bunt. Chase Jensen battled to get a single scoring pinch runner Shane Garcia, but was left on base when Jake Mizell flew out to deep left field. Mike Chovanec led off in the 3rd with a walk and Witte hit a double deep to right center. Jordan Imhoff then hit his third home run of the tournament scoring three. Brown hit a single to left field and then got another stolen base. He reached third on an error and then scored when Garcia hit another single. Griffin went in as pinch runner and moved to second on Hiller’s single to right. Griffin stole home and Hiller was picked off first base by the pitcher. Jensen walked and then stole second, but was left hanging on base once again. The 4th inning Chovanec led off with a single to right center and was picked off trying to steal. Witte got a base hit followed by Imhoff hitting into a double play. In the 5th Brown led off reaching base by being hit by a pitch. He stole second and then moved to third and then home on a couple of errors scoring the only Warrior run of the inning. The 6th inning was another big scoring inning with Mizell leading off with a walk and Chovanec doing the same. Witte hit a double scoring Mizell, and then Imhoff was intentionally walked. Brown was up next with a single to left scoring Chovanec and Witte. Imhoff and Brown both scored on a string of pass balls and errors. The 7th inning Mizell got a base hit and moved around the bases on wild pitches even scoring on a wild pitch. Chovanec walked, moved to second on one of the wild pitches and was then thrown out trying to steal third. The Warriors scored a whopping 14 runs on 12 hits and six errors.

Brian Ragira led the Warrior’s defense on the mound. The first two innings were defensively perfect with three up and three down. In the 3rd, two runs scored on a walk and a couple of hits. The last out of the inning was a great relay play with Imhoff throwing home to Garcia who threw to Witte to get the batter out at second. Three more runs scored in the 4th on another walk, two hits and an error. Imhoff came in to relieve Ragira with two outs striking out the next batter. In the 5th Imhoff struck out the first two batters. The next batter walked, but was thrown out by Garcia at second. He struck out two in the 6th and one in the 7th for a total of five strikeouts.

The Warriors win the Lake Cities Classic tournament for the second year in a row!
