Martin vs Coppell

Game Summary
 Mike Hill led the Warriors on the mound against the Coppell Cowboys. Coppell’s bats were hot with a string of four hits in a row, which scored three runs. Jantzen Witte, Tyler Osier and Mike Chovanec made a nice double play to get the first two outs. The next batter got a hit and managed to steal second base. The third out of the inning was a blooper hit back to Hill who made the easy throw to Chovanec. We only allowed one batter on base in the 2nd on an error but held him on getting the final out before he scored. In the 3rd inning the first batter walked. Mizell made the first out with the next batter hitting to left field. The designated hitter then hit a home run over left field scoring two runs. Another walk put another man on base followed by a fly ball between short and center caught by Witte moving the base runner to second. The next batter hit to left field where Mizell fielded it cleanly and threw to Gonzalez at third and he then relayed to Garcia at home. Garcia made the tag to get the third out – an awesome play with great teamwork! The 4th inning started out with a hit to left field. The runner scored on a sacrifice fly to left. In the 5th the first two batters each hit to left field with Mizell making the catch on both. Witte caught the fly ball to short to make the 3rd out. Jordan Imhoff entered in relief in the 6th after one out and two hits. One more batter reached base on a fielder’s choice and the inning ended with a couple of good infield defensive plays. Imhoff struck out the first batter in the 7th and threw the next one out at first on a hit back to the mound. Mizell made the final out catching another fly ball to left field.

Mizell led off in the 1st with a double to right center. He scored on Witte’s hit to left field. Coppell made a nice double play to end the inning with Imhoff hitting to the short stop. Brown hit a single in the 2nd and was thrown out at second on Garcia’s fielder’s choice hit to third base. Ragira hit a single up the middle but he and pinch runner, Shane Griffin were left on base as Gonzalez and Osier both grounded out. The next two innings the Cowboys managed to get the Warriors out three up and three down. Osier got the only hit in the 5th but was left on base as Mizell hit back to the pitcher. Imhoff got a base hit in the 6th and Griffin went in as pinch runner but was left on base again. Gonzalez reached base in the 7th on an error, but with two outs already on the board, was left on base as Osier made the final out flying out to deep center field. The Coppell Cowboys captured the 1st place trophy for the Jennifer Tyde Warrior Classic. It was a disappointing loss for the Warriors who came in 2nd in the tournament.
