Martin Warriors vs Flower Mound Jaguars

Game Summary

Shane Griffin started on the mound for the Warriors leading off with a strike out.  He allowed one runner on with a walk and the defense helped out on the next two to end the top half of the inning with no score for the Jaguars.  Unfortunately the Warriors were out three up and three down in the bottom of the inning.  In the second inning, the Jaguars scored a solo home run.  Brian Nephew and Michael Chovanec each reached base on single hits and each scored on a single by Jacob Mizell to put the Warriors ahead 2-1.  Flower Mound scored two in the third with a base hit, a walk and a double and held Martin to no score with only Will Keiser reaching base on a walk.  Griffin struck out the first two batters in the fourth inning.  Two batters reached base, one after being hit by a pitch and the other on a base hit.  Jantzen Witte fielded a shot to short and made a great play to Nephew at third to get the lead runner out to end the Jaguars attempted rally.  Nephew led off in the bottom of the fourth with a hit up the middle and scored when Mizell’s hit to the second baseman was bobbled.  The first Jaguar batter in the fifth struck out, and the next hit a shot to 3rd base that Nephew dove to catch – a great play!  The next batter hit to center field and made it to third on a fielding error.  Griffin struck out the next batter to end the scoring threat.  Martin wasn’t able to get a man on base ending the fifth inning after only three batters.  The sixth inning the Jaguars rallied after the first batter grounded out, getting the second batter on base on a hit by pitch.  Jordan Imhoff was brought in to relieve Griffin on the third batter taking over with a 2-1 count and the batter ended up reaching base on a walk.  Imhoff struck out the fourth batter and walked the fifth.  The sixth batter hit to Chovanec in right field who made a throw to the plate trying to get the runner out, but overthrew allowing three to score putting the Jaguars ahead 6-3.  Two Warrior batters reached base in the bottom of the inning, Nephew on a single and Mizell on a hit by pitch, but both were left on base.  The final inning the Jaguars got three on base on base hits.  Imhoff struck out two and Keiser made the final out catching a fly to second base.  The Warriors were not able to rally ending game one in a loss.
