Martin   - vs Sam Houston -

Game Summary

I almost ran out of pencil lead scoring this game. The Warriors defense did their job, as always. However, this evening belonged to the offense. In the bottom half of the first inning (Martin was home team), the Warriors batted 22 batters! That is not a misprint or mistake. Along with that number, there were 12 first inning hits, for a total of 18 bases. There were only 3 stolen bases, thanks in large part to the massive continuous hitting effort. There were 16 RBI’s in this inning alone. For the game, shortstop Ryan Walker reached base on 4 of 4 at- bats. Others reaching base were Alec Shurack 1 for 2, Jordan Hasler 2 for 3, Tyler Wilhelm 2 for 2, Dillon May 2 for 2, Brian Ragira 2 for 4, Trey Thompson 2 for 2, Dillon Dawson 2 for 2, Tony Rizzotti 2 for 2, Cliff Gillaspia 2 for 2, Matt Kazmierski 2 for 4, Travis Yost 2 for 2, Dane Sasser 2 for 2, Russell Metcalf 2 for 2, and last but not least Paul Cheng 2 for 2. 32 Warrior hitters reached base on a hit, walk, error or fielder’s choice. Great Job at the plate Warriors!

On defense, Tyler Wilhelm’s arm was just about all the Warriors needed. Tyler threw 3 innings, allowing no runs, on no hits, and 9 strikeouts. One Texan runner got as far as 3rd base in the second inning. The only other Texan runner was left at first base in the first inning. In the top of the 4th, Dillon May Came in to finish the job. He faced 3 Texan batters, struck out 2 of them, and third hitter was put out on an unassisted play by first baseman Cliff Gillaspia. Dillon threw a total of 11 pitches to end the Texans evening.
