Game Summary

Three walks, 3 errors, a balk and a fielders choice in the top of the 1st inning allows Martin to score 4 runs against rival Lamar on a very scary weather night for baseball. Mike Hill is on the mound for the Warriors and the Vikings score 1 run after they load the bases and hit a sacrifice fly. The Warriors don’t score in their half of the second and the Vikings push one run across in the bottom of the inning after a leadoff single, stolen base and RBI double down the left field line. Another scoring threat by Lamar is halted when a runner attempts to score on a wild pitch but is out at the plate as Chase Brown tosses the ball back to Hill.
THE GAME IS SUSPENED BECAUSE OF LIGHTNING (and the threat of a tornado!)

Both teams return to the ballpark on Wednesday night to continue the game. Martin is leading 4-2 in the top of the 3rd. Jordan Imhoff hits the first pitch over the center field fence to extend the Warrior lead 5-2. Shane Griffin is on the mound for the continued game and along with good defense hold the Vikings. The Warriors get 2 men on in the 4th and Jantzen Witte lays down a sac bunt to advance the runners to 2nd and 3rd. Keiser then hits a sacrifice fly to score Brown who had reached on a single to lead off the inning. With 2 outs in the 4th, Lamar hits a double to deep right center field followed by 2 walks and another double down the right field line scoring two. Martin’s lead is now 6-4. B. Brian Nephew leads off the 5th inning with a double and moves to 3rd base on a single by Tyler Martin. Tyler Osier enters the game as a pinch runner for Martin and is thrown out at 2nd base on a fielder’s choice by Michael Chovanec. Lamar makes an error and is unable to complete the double play allowing Nephew to score. The Vikings load the bases in the bottom of the inning but the pitching tandem of Griffin and Imhoff keeps them from scoring. The Warriors score another run in the 6th inning with 2 walks and a fielder’s choice by Keiser. Lamar gets another base runner in the bottom of the inning but is unable to get him home. Nephew leads off the Warrior 7th with a single and is moved to 3rd on a double by T. Martin. Chovanec hits a single to score Nephew. Adam Glenn comes in as a pinch hitter and moves the runners with a fielder’s choice to the right side. Brown hits a 2RBI double to center field. Lamar changes pitchers and the score is now 11-4. The Vikings are able to load the bases in the bottom of the inning, but with 2 strike-outs, Imhoff gets a final strike-out to end the game.
