Martin - vs
Arlington -
Game Summary
Mike Hill is on the mound for the Warriors for the second match up with the
cross-town rival Arlington High Colts. This game is a pitchers’ duel to the very
end.
The Colts lead off the game with a double to the left field wall but leave the
runner stranded. They get the leadoff batter on again in the 2nd inning but
again aren’t able to score. The Warrior first hit comes on a single up the
middle by Tyler Martin in the bottom of the 2nd but the Warriors can’t get him
home. The Warriors get 2 men on in the 3rd with singles by Harrison Law and
Jantzen Witte but a ground out fielder’s choice ends the inning. The Colts are
able to push 1 run across in the 4th with a couple of Warrior errors following a
hit batsman. The Warriors get runners on base in the 4th and 6th innings but
aggressive, yet costly, base running keeps them from scoring.
Hopes are high for the Warriors in the bottom of the 7th as Brian Nephew leads
off with a single. Shane Griffin comes in as a pinch runner and is moved to 2nd
on a sacrifice bunt by T. Martin. Unfortunately, he is caught stealing with a
good play by the Colt catcher to end the game resulting in the first district
loss of the season.
