Martin   - vs Bowie -

Game Summary

We dodged a bullet! After running up a 5 – 0 lead, the Warriors let the
Volunteers come back and tie the game in the top of the 7th inning. It would have
been real easy to let this one get away to a tenacious Bowie team. But, the
Warrior offense had other plans. Ryan Walker led off the bottom of the 7th inning
with a walk. He easily stole 2nd to set the stage for Alec Shurack to move him over
to 3rd base on a ground ball. Next up was the 3-hole hitter, Tyler Wilhelm, who, just
as he should, hit a sacrifice fly ball to deep right field. Even though the right
fielder made a great throw, there was no way to stop Ryan from a hard charge from
3rd to win the game. Talk about exciting!

On defense, Matt Kazmierski started the game and pitched 4 2/3 innings,
allowing only 3 hits. In the 5th inning, reliever Tony Rizzotti came in and struck
out 3 of 8 Volunteer batters, all swinging, to end the Volunteer threat. The infield
was busy, with 11 balls hit to the infield, with every ball played for a putout. Way
to go, defense! The infield was led by Brian Ragira, Ryan Walker, Alec Shurack,
and Tyler Wilhelm, with Russell Metcalf behind the plate.
