Martin   - vs Bowie -

Game Summary

Expectations were high as the Martin Warriors traveled to Bowie for their first district match of the season.  Harrison Law continues his hot streak and hits a single thru the right side followed by a single up the middle by JantzenWitte.  Will Keiser reaches on an infield hit that allows both runners to advance and Law to score. Jordan Imhoff hits a RBI single in the hole at short stop and scores Witte.  Brian Nephew then hits a sharp ground ball that turns into a double play but Keiser is able to score on the fielder’s choice.  Tyler Martin reaches on another Bowie error and steals 2nd.  He scores on a single over 2nd base by Michael Chovanec.  The Warriors begin strong, scoring 4 runs in the top of the 1st inning.  Imhoff gets the start on the mound for the Warriors.  Three singles and a walk allow the Volunteers to score 2 runs but a good double play by Keiser, Witte and Tyler Martin shut down the Bowie scoring at 2 runs.
The Warrior 2nd inning is started off with a bang as Chase Brown hits a long ball over the left field fence for his first HR of the season.  Three batters later, Keiser sends another long ball over the left field fence for a 2 run HR scoring Witte who had reached on a walk.  Imhoff rockets a double to right center field.  The Volunteers change pitchers yet Tyler Martin continues the hitting with a single, and moves courtesy runner, Shane Griffin to 3rd. Chovanec hits a 2 RBI single to score Griffin and Martin.  Chovanec steals a base and then is brought home on a HR over the right field fence by Jacob Mizell.  The Warriors score 7 runs in the inning with 3 homers.  The Bowie Volunteers put a series of single hits together with a couple of walks again in the 2nd to make things interesting.  Shane Griffin comes to the mound continuing to get ground balls but the Volunteers score 5 in their half of the inning.
Law gets the Warriors momentum back with a leadoff triple to deep center field to start the 3rd inning.  Keiser hits a single to score Law and steals 2nd.  He advances on Imhoff’s fielder’s choice and an error by the Volunteer short stop allowing Keiser to score.  Brian Nephew follows with a RBI double scoring Imhoff.  Tyler Martin hits the Warriors 4th home run of the game and prompts Bowie to make another pitching change.  The Warriors rally to score 5 runs. Griffin silences the Bowie bats with 3 strike outs in the bottom of the inning.
The Warrior 4th inning seems quiet compared to the previous inning with Martin scoring only 1 run. Law hits a double and advances on a stolen base.  Another Bowie error allows Law to score.  The game score is now 17-7 with the Warriors having an important 10 run lead.  Griffin has another strong inning allowing only a base on balls, a single and 3 K’s to keep Bowie from scoring.
The Warrior offense doesn’t score anymore in the 5th.  A good double play by Witte, Keiser and Matthew Schimpf followed by another strike out from Griffin keeps Bowie from scoring and ends the game with the Warriors victorious.
