Game Summary
Stewart Person pitched a complete 7 inning game and defeated the Bowie
Volunteers during this District match up. The top of the first inning saw the
Bowie score three. The Warriors came back with four of their own with a walk to
Jay Hiller and Tanner Hapeman and Chase Jensen both reaching on Volunteer
errors, Person got on with a fielders’ choice and Kyle Blackwell and Hunter
Reinhardt both hit singles. In the second the Volunteers were retired in order
and the Warriors followed suit. The third started with a single from the lead
off batter for Bowie only to be thrown out during a run down after an attempted
stolen base. The next two batters were retired and the Warriors were scoreless
in the inning as well despite a walk issued to Reinhardt. The fourth, fifth and
sixth inning were all scoreless for the Bowie Volunteers and the Warriors came
out swinging in the fourth starting off with a double by Trent Hunter, a walk to
Hiller, Jensen once again reached on a Bowie error. Person once again got on
with a fielders’ choice and Travis Breslin also was presented with an error to
put him on. All told the Warriors pushed three more runs across the plate. The
Warriors were not able to put any men on during the fifth inning but were able
to rack up four more during the sixth with help from Hiller, Jensen and Taylor
Peddicord with singles and a triple from Hapeman. The Volunteers were able to
add two runs in the top of the seventh inning but it wasn’t enough to put them
in the lead and the game ended with the Warriors once again victorious with a
score of 11 – 5 to bring the JV Warriors district record to 5 – 0.
