Martin   - vs DeSoto -

Game Summary

Jordan Imhoff is on the mound for the District match-up between the DeSoto Eagles and Martin Warriors. The 1st inning starts strong with Imhoff striking out 2 batters.  The Warrior offense begins with Harrison Law reaching on a walk and advancing on Jantzen Witte’s fielder’s choice.  Will Keiser hits a fly ball to left field that is caught and Law is doubled off while running on the pitch.  Imhoff ends the top of the 2nd inning with another 2 K’s and begins the bottom half by reaching on an error.  Shane Griffin comes in to run for Imhoff and steals 2nd.  Brian Nephew gets on with a walk and both runners advance on a pass ball.  Tyler Martin’s ground ball scores Griffin and moves Nephew to 3rd and Mike Chovanec repeats with another right side ground ball to score Nephew.  In the 3rd inning, the Eagles first batter strikes out and then the next batter has the only hit for the team which is then followed by a walk before Imhoff shuts them down again, striking out the final 2 batters to end any scoring threat.  Chase Brown reaches on a walk and steals 2nd base then advances to 3rd on a pass ball.  Law also gets on with a walk and Brown scores on a wild pitch as Law advances to 2nd. Keiser is hit by a pitch to put 2 runners on for Imhoff’s double and both runners score.  Nephew rips a double down the 3rd baseline scoring courtesy runner, Griffin.  Tyler Martin gets his second RBI of the game with a single thru the hole at shortstop.  The Warrior offense scores 5 to make the score 0-7.  Imhoff has another strong inning on the mound with 2 more strike outs.  A new pitcher for DeSoto enters the game but can’t stop Law who leads off with a single and scores on a double by Witte.  Keiser gets a RBI double off the left field wall to score Witte. A faulty pick off move by the Desoto pitcher advances Keiser to 3rd and he then scores on a passed ball.  Griffin, running for Imhoff who reached via a hit by pitch, scores on another Eagle error.  Nephew walks and is advanced to 3rd with a single to center field by Matt Schimpf.  Paul Gonzales reaches on an error, which scores Nephew and moves Schimpf to 3rd.  A fielder’s choice by Brown scores Schimpf.  Six more Warriors score in the inning making the score 0-13.  Imhoff closes out on the mound with a 1 hit shutout. He struck out 12 of the 17 batters he faced and walked only 1 batter – some impressive stats for sure.
