Game Summary
Chase Brown throws out an attempted steal and Brian Nephew makes a good play on
a high foul ball to squash a first inning rally by the visiting Tyler Lee
Raiders. Will Keiser singles and scores on a double by Jordan Imhoff to begin
the Warrior half of the inning. Imhoff then advances to 3rd and scores on a wild
pitch. The 2nd inning sees the Raiders with base runners and one run scoring
before a double play by Keiser, Jantzen Witte and Matt Schimpf ends the inning. Michael Chovanec opens the Warriors hitting in the 2nd with a single up the
middle and is advanced by a sac bunt by Schimpf. Unfortunately Chovanec is
thrown out at the plate trying to score. Nephew makes a nice bare-handed play in
the top of the 3rd inning but the Raiders hit a homerun tying the score at 2-2. Harrison Law leads off with a nice line drive to center field but is out on a
fielder’s choice by Witte. Imhoff hits his second double of the game to
score Witte and Keiser but are left stranded on the bases. Warriors end up by one run. Zac Zelinski enters the game as relief pitcher in the 4th. The Raiders end up
scoring two with some timely hits, a pass ball and squeeze bunt ties the game
again now at 4 runs. Adam Glenn comes to the mound to close the inning but 2
more runs score for Tyler Lee putting them ahead by two. The bottom of the 4th
inning, the Warriors have Jacob Mizell and Chase Brown on base with walks, but a good
double play by the Raiders keeps anyone from scoring. The Raiders score in the
5th inning with an infield single, stolen base, sac bunt and fielder’s choice.
Keiser leads off in the 5th with a strong single and steals 2nd base. Imhoff
hits a HR to get the Warriors back within 1 run of the Raiders. Glenn pitches a
1-2-3 inning with 2 K’s to start the top of the 6th. Mizell leads off the bottom
of the 6th with a triple to right center and then scores on a ground ball by
Brown to tie the game. Law hits a solo HR to put the Warriors ahead 8-7. The
Raiders lead off in the 7th with a ground rule double over the fence in right
field and the runner advances to 3rd on a strike-out and pass ball. A hard
single up the middle scores 2 for the Raiders. Nephew comes in to pitch and
strikes out 2 batters. He then gets a pop out to end the inning. Chovanec is
called out on a close play after attempting an infield bunt single to begin the
bottom of the 7th inning. Tyler Martin reaches on an error and moves to 2nd on
the over throw. Paul Gonzales enters the game as a pinch runner for Tyler
Martin. Mizell hits a ball to the right side of the field to move Gonzales who
then scores on a bad throw to first base and tie the game. Mizell moves to 3rd
base and is the winning run when Law shoots a single through the infield. A
see-saw game finally ends with the Warriors victorious 9-8.
