Martin - vs
Arlington High -
Game Summary
The rival game with Arlington High begins with Harrison Law ripping a grounder
toward 1st base, a sure hit, but the Colts 1st baseman makes a good play to rob
him of a single. Jantzen Witte follows with a great double over the right fielders head
but the top of the inning ends with no score for Martin. The bottom of the
inning is a good start for Kevin Winter holding the Colts to just one hit and no
runs. AHS defense makes another good play in the second inning to rob Tyler
Martin of a nice hit. Winter begins the bottom of the inning with a strike-out,
Jordan Imhoff makes a sliding catch in right field and then Winter finishes off
the 1-2-3 inning with another K. After 2 outs in the 3rd, Law, reaches on a high
pop up that is mishandled by the AHS catcher and Witte then gets on base with a
walk. Will Keiser hits a 3 run homer to left center to score the Warriors first
3 runs. Winter allows only 1 hit in the bottom of the inning and again closes
out with a strike-out. The 4th inning has Michael Chovanec hitting a lead off
double and T. Martin moves him to 3rd base with a nice sac bunt. Chovanec scores
on a fielder’s choice by Brian Ragira and an error by the Colt defense.
Chase Brown
earns his way on base with a walk and Shane Griffin enters to pinch run. Witte’s
fielder’s choice scores Ragira and pinch runner Griffin. Keiser hits a single to
shallow right field and scores Witte who was running with 2 outs. The Colts
rally in their half with back-to-back homeruns but Winter settles in and
finishes the inning with another strike-out. The 5th inning sees both teams
quiet with 3 up and 3 down. Brown reaches on a hit by pitch to begin the
6th inning. He is thrown out at 2nd on Law’s fielder’s choice. Another fine play
by the Colts defense keeps Keiser’s shot down the 3rd base line in play to make
the out. Griffin comes to the mound and gets a fly ball out but the Colts
score 3 runs with some defensive miscues by Martin. Mike Hill comes in to close
the inning throwing 2 ground ball outs. The Colts have their own defensive
miscues in the top of the 7th inning, allowing Tyler Osier to score, who was
pinch running for Imhoff after reaching on an error. T. Martin hits a shot down
the right field line for a double and moves Ragira who also reached base on an
error by the Colts. Law follows with a double to right center field and scores
T. Martin and Ragira. Witte then hits a stand-up triple to score Law. MHS scores
6 in the inning and Hill finishes the game with a 1-2-3 outing.
