Game Summary
The last game for the Martin Warriors at the Arlington High Tournament was
against the host team, the cross-town rivals, Arlington Colts. Martin was able
to force a pitching change during the top of the first inning after the starting
pitcher for the Colts walked Jay Hiller and Stewart Person and hit batsmen Chase
Jensen and Travis Breslin. The Warriors were able to score 3 runs. The Colt’s
half of the inning was scoreless. Warriors didn’t score in the top of the second
and the Colts put up 6 hits and 5 runs during the bottom of the second bringing
the score 5 – 3 Colts. Person started the third with a triple and scored on
Breslin’s single. The Colts had a couple of hits and scored three in the third.
The fourth was hitless and scoreless for booth teams. During the top of the
fifth the Warriors’ Hapeman reached on a Colt error and scored when Jensen had a
double. Then the Colts closed out the fifth with five runs to make the final
score Colts 13, Warriors 5 and to beat the Warriors for the first time after
many meetings.
