Game Summary
The Plano East Panthers were out to beat the Warriors after losing to us in the
Lewisville tournament the weekend before, but the Warriors gave them a battle to
the very end. The Warriors held the Panthers scoreless until the fourth inning.
Martin came out hitting with singles by Chovanec, Keiser and Nephew in the first
inning with Chovanec scoring on Nephew’s hit and Keiser scoring on Jantzen
Witte’s fielder’s choice. Chovanec walked in the second and scored by stealing
third and then home. In the third inning, Nephew led with a single followed up
by a Tyler Martin single and then Law hit a single scoring both of them. In the
fourth the Panthers scored two, and then Keiser hit a single to start us off and
scored on Imhoff’s double. In the top of the fifth, the Warriors starting
pitcher, Jacob Mizell was relieved by Dylan Rucker. The Panthers got several
good hits scoring three more bringing the score to 6-5. Matthew Schimpf came in
to relieve Rucker getting the final out with a grounder to second baseman Will
Keiser. The Warriors couldn’t get a man on base in the bottom of the fifth. Schimpf pitched the final inning with one hit and a two run homer with one pop
up out and two strike outs. The Warriors only managed to get one hit in the
bottom of the sixth by Keiser ending the game with a loss by one run.
