Martin - vs
Lake Highlands -
Game Summary
The Martin Warriors faced the Lake Highlands Wildcats in the first
game of the Duncanville JV tournament. Defensively the Warriors were perfect
which backed up Stewart Person on the mound who racked up 11 strike outs in 6
innings of play. Person had 8 strike outs against the first 9 Wildcat batters.
Offensively the Warriors were strong as well. During the first they scored twice
with Jay Hiller hitting a double and Travis Breslin a single. The Warriors came
back up in the top of the second with Hunter Reinhardt hitting a single to left,
Nathan Harrison laying down a sac bunt and Eric Jeske and Tanner Hapeman both
hitting singles as well. They were able to add two more runs during this inning.
Although Breslin hit a double during the third he was one of many Warriors that
were thrown out stealing during the game and Martin was unable to push a run
across the plate. The fourth inning was scoreless for the Warriors as well
despite Reinhardt hitting his second single of the evening, this time to right
field. The Wildcats got their first two hits of the evening in the bottom of the
fourth and were able to chalk one up on the scoreboard. Once again the Warriors
added a run in the fifth due to singles by Hapeman, Chase Jensen and Person.
Reinhardt started the sixth and final inning with a single to center field
followed by a triple by Hapeman and another single by Breslin for his third hit
of the game. The Wildcats were not able to add to their score in the sixth and
they called it a night for a final score Warriors 10, Wildcats 1.
