Martin - 4  vs  Desoto - 0

Game Summary
The much anticipated re-match with Desoto lived up to its billing....lots of intensity and emotion on both sides of the field, and vocal support from the fans for both teams.  Unfortunately for Desoto, Nate Karns and Shaun Garcia lived up to their billing too.  The result....a 4-0, 3-hit, 11 strikeout performance from Karns, and a perfect 3 for 3 night for Garcia with a 2-run homer.  The win clinches a playoff berth for the Warriors (22-3, 10-2), and reduces their magic number for clinching a 2nd consecutive District 7-5A title to one.  Any combination of a Martin win or Lamar/Duncanville losses will seal the championship for the Warriors.  The loss puts Desoto in a situation where they must win their two remaining games to have a shot at the playoffs as they battle Lamar and Duncanville for the two remaining playoff spots.  Click here for the latest District 7-5A standings.

The Warriors struck first in the second inning.  Nate Karns walked , moved to second on Regan Dixon's groundout and scored when Jordan Imhoff singled to right.  Imhoff advanced to second when the right fielder couldn't get the handle on the ball.  Drew Huneycutt followed with a single to right, but Imhoff was cut down trying to score.  In the third, Will Keiser led off with a double to deep center.  Garcia then drove a fast ball over the right field fence to stake the Warriors to a 3-run lead.  With Karns bringing 94-95 mph cheese, it might as well have been 300-0....the Eagles didn't have a chance.  The Warriors added an insurance run in the sixth.  Pinch hitter Harrison Law walked, stole second, and advanced to third when the throw from the catcher went into center field.  Dixon's sacrifice fly to deep center scored Law easily to make it 4-0.  Karns set down the first two batters in the seventh, but three consecutive walks loaded the bases.  Bryan Cox got the call from the bullpen and proceeded to get the final out with a four pitch strikeout.
