Game Summary
Adam Glenn pitched a full game shut out
in another strong outing against the Lamar Vikings. Glenn gave up 4 singles and
the defense only allowed the Vikings to get into scoring position twice during
the game. In the 5th inning, with runners on 1st and 2nd
and 1 out, Matt Schmipf, Jantzen Witte and Mike Chovonec turned a 4-6-3 double
play to end the inning and eliminate the Vikings first scoring chance of the
game. In the 7th inning, with runners on 1st and 3rd,
Michael Lindsey turned the second double play of the game to Schimpf and
Chovonec (5-4-3) to eliminate the only other scoring chance the Vikings had,
ending the game. Ryan Nielson made 3 great catches in the right field
throughout the game to also get key outs during the game.
Offensively for the Warriors, Chase Brown led off the 1st inning with a single to left field. Chovonec brought him home with a double to center field. Lindsey brought home Chovonec with another double hit to center field in the inning. The final run of the inning came on a ball hit by Mike Hill scoring Lindsey after the catcher made an error when the 3rd baseman tried to get him out at the plate. In the 2nd, Chovonec scored the only run of the inning on a home run over the right center field wall. The Warrior’s final run came in the 5th inning after Jacob Mizell reached 1st base on an error by the Viking 3rd baseman and then Schmipf brought him home on a double hit to the fence in right center field.
