Martin - 8 vs Duncanville - 4
Game Summary
The Warriors second district game against Duncanville proved to be an exciting one. Zac Zielinski pitched six innings allowing six hits, one walk, three hit batters three strike outs, and four runs with one being earned. Shane Griffin pitched the final inning with two strike outs. In the first inning the Warriors defense gave the fans a spectacular start with a double play by Jantzen Witte and Michael Chovanec. Another ESPN worthy double play occured in the fifth inning with Witte fielding a shot to short throwing to Ryan Guadagnolo at second and Guadagnolo firing to Chovanec who did the splits to make the play at first. The third and sixth innings proved to be troublesome for the Warriors with a few errors contributing to the Panther offense.
Chase Brown started the Warrior offense off with a single. Chovanec reached base on an error. The runners were then advance by Mike Hill's sacrifice fly. Hayden Steele hit a nice double to left center to score both Brown and Chovanec giving the Warriors an early lead. Jacob Mizell started off the second inning with a single, then was thrown out on a fielders choice hit by Christian Hibbs. Hibbs was called out as well when the umpire ruled runner's interference against Mizell when he was running to second and impeded the double play attempt by the Panthers. In the third inning Witte and Hill both got base hits, but were left hanging on base at the end of the inning. The fourth inning pushed the Warriors on top. Mizell hit another single and stole second, then reached third on a throwing error by the short stop during a pick off attempt. Hibbs and Guadagnolo both reached base on balls. Mizell scored on a pass ball and Hibbs scored on an overthrow by the catcher trying thow him out at third. Brown followed reaching base on an error, and scored Guadagnlo. The Panthers then made a pitching change and walked Chovanec. Witte flew out to center field for the final out of the inning. The fifth inning the new pitcher effectively kept the Warriors from reaching a base. In the final offensive inning for the Warriors, Mizell started it off with a doulbe down the first base line and scored on Tyler Osier's base hit. Brown was up next and walked. Osier and Brown both scored on a high pop fly by Witte that was dropped by the second baseman. Witte was out at second after a fielder's choice hit by Hill. The Warriors finished off the Panthers 8-4.
