Game Summary
The JV Warriors are on a roll - the 4th shut out in a row! The runs against Bowie were added one run per inning from the 2nd through the 5th, then in the 6th the Warriors pushed it over the top to run rule the Volunteers. The first run was scored by Mike Hill on a hit by Jake Mizell. The second run was scored by Jantzen Witte on Michael Chovanec's sacrifice fly. Ryan Guadagnolo, pinch runner for Hayden Steele, scored in the 4th on a hit by Ryan Nielsen. Chovanec scored in the 5th on Matt Schimpf's fielder's choice. In the 6th, Mizell scored on Michael Lindsey's shot to left field, then Brown, Lindsey and Witte scored on Witte's home run over the left field fence. Hill hit a triple and then scored on a pass ball. Schimpf walked and then scored on Steele's hit to right center.
The defense was in excellent form. Adam Glenn pitched the first four innings allowing four hits, two walks and striking out one. In the first inning, catcher, Hayden Steele threw out the second batter at second base and Glenn picked off the next base runner at second base. There was a nice double play in the second inning with Glenn fielding a shot back to the mound throwing to Chovanec at first and Chovanec throwing to Hill at third to get the lead runner out. They added another great double play in the third inning after Glenn struck out a batter, Steele threw out the runner trying to get to second base. Zach Zielinski came in to pitch the final two innings. He threw to seven batters with one hit, two fielder's choice, and no walks.
