Game Summary
Josh Bragg pitched 4 2/3 strong innings for the Martin Warriors
bringing his record and the team’s district record both to 4 – 0. The Warriors
accumulated 4 singles from Tanner Hapeman, Dylan Rucker, Kyle Blackwell and
Hunter Reinhardt during the top of the first. They were also able to score 4
runs. The Vikings answered with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the
first. During the second inning the Warrior bats went to work again. Hapeman
led off with a double followed by a single from Garcia bringing Hapeman home.
Garcia was able to score on a passed ball. Stewart Person and Blackwell hit
consecutive singles and came home when Reinhardt hit a triple to right field.
Eric Jeske hit a single and brought Reinhardt around for the final Warrior run
of the inning. The Vikings were held scoreless in the second. The third inning
also saw the Warriors amass 6 hits. The first three batters, Hapeman, Garcia
and Rucker all hit their second single for the night followed by Travis
Breslin’s second walk loading the bases. Person got an RBI with a single to the
left followed by two RBIs for Blackwell with his third single. Reinhardt took a
walk loading the bases once again. Trevor Slocum hit a double which scored all
three Warrior runners. Slocum was able to score on a sac fly from Garcia.
Lamar scored 2 more runs in the bottom of the third. The Warrior’s fourth
inning was uneventful and the Vikings scored their fifth and final run for the
evening. The Warriors were able to add one in the fifth inning when Slocum beat
out a throw to first and was able to come home three batters later when Rucker
hit his third single of the game. Ian Johnston came in as relief. Johnston
faced six Vikings. He struck out three and gave up no hits or runs to close out
the win for Martin.
