Martin - 6 vs Bowie - 5
Game Summary
In the Championship game of the Bowie Tournament, the Martin Freshmen
team faced the Bowie Volunteers. It was a hard fought battle all the way
through the 7 innings and was up for grabs until the final out of the game.
With one out in the first inning and Daniel Garcia and Dylan Rucker on first and
second after they both reached with singles, Travis Breslin reached on a
fielder’s choice scoring Christian Ballard, who was pinch running for Garcia.
During the 2nd inning Stewart Person had a great at bat. After being
down two strikes and no balls he showed patience and took a walk. Kyle
Blackwell followed with a double. Two batters later Trevor Slocum hit a
sacrifice fly to centerfield scoring Person. Tanner Hapeman hit a single to
score Blackwell which gave the Warriors the 3 – 1 lead after two. The Warriors
added two runs in the 3rd inning. Breslin hit a single followed by a
walk by Hunter Reinhardt. Blackwell hit a single to score Breslin and Eric
Jeske hit a single to score Reinhardt. The Warrior’s final run came in the 4th
inning when Hapeman was on due to a double and Breslin once again hit a single
that allowed Hapeman to score. During the 5th inning the Vols were
able to rack up 4 runs. They were threatening to tie the game with a runner on
1st base and only 1 out when a Bowie batter hit a shot to Kyle
Blackwell at short stop. He threw out the batter at 1st and Person
threw a rocket to Slocum at third who got the tag down to complete the double
play and get the Warriors out of the inning. During the 6th inning
the Vols once again threatened. A Vols runner was trying to take advantage of
an overthrow at 2nd base. Centerfielder, Dylan Rucker, threw him out
at third with Slocum once again making the tag. During the final inning Bowie
had runners on 2nd and third with two outs. A hard hit ball to 2nd
base was fielded nicely and the play was completed from Hapeman to Person to end

bringing his record to 3 - 0 and Ian Johnston once again closed and got the
