Martin - 11 vs Cedar Hill - 0
Game Summary
The JV Martin Warriors hosted the JV Cedar Hill Longhorns
at Warrior Field. Zak Zielinski, a Junior on Varsity, pitched for the
Warriors allowing 4 hits, walking 4 and striking out 5 in six innings. The
Warrior defense nicely backed up Zielinski with some note worthy plays -
particularly one from Michael Hill at 3rd base snagging an infield hit on the
run and throwing the runner out at first base. Ryan Guadagnolo also made a
nice play for the final out of the game from 2nd to first base. Catcher,
Hayden Steele threw out the only runner that got on base on an error when the
runner was leading off at first base. There was an exciting run down play by
Steele, first baseman Michael Chovanec, and Jantzen Witte, the short stop.
Chovanec got the tag on the runner.
The Warrior offense led the game in the first inning with a double from Chase Brown who scored on a single from Jantzen Witte. In the 2nd and 5th inning the Warriors set up a base running play with Guadagnolo on 3rd base (pinch running for Steele who got a single and a fielders choice) and Jacob Mizell on first. Mizell stole 2nd base drawing the catchers throw to 2nd and Guadagnolo stole home scoring both times. Michael Chovanec had a nice hit in the 3rd and then a sacrifice fly in the 5th to score Witte. Michael Hill had a single, a triple and a sacrifice fly to right field to move Michael Chovanec to 2nd base. Ryan Nielson reached base on a walk and a single in the 5th. Ben Follis had a single in the 6th. The Warriors capitalized on the 9 errors committed by the Longhorns winning easily 11-0.
