Martin - 8 vs Plano East - 7
Game Summary
This years' Tyde Classic once again has fielded some of the top teams
in the area. Game Two matched Martin vs. Plano East. After falling
behind in the top of the first, Martin evened the score when Shaun Garcia led
off with a bunt single, and came around to score on an error by the shortstop.
The Warriors moved ahead in the second inning. Brian Fite led off with a
single, and Kyle Swearingen reached on a walk. Harrison Law followed with
a nice sacrifice bunt, moving Fite and pinch-runner Blake Sanders to 2nd and
3rd. Will Keiser then singled to right center scoring Fite and
Sanders. The Warriors pushed three more runs across in the bottom of the
third. Fite led off with a single, and Swearingen followed with a
hit-and-run single to right moving Fite to third. Law was hit by a pitch
to load the bases, then Fite was nipped on a close force play at the plate.
Garcia was walked with the bases still loaded, forcing in a run, then Bryce
Peterman executed a perfect suicide squeeze bunt scoring Law. Zach
Laster's single to right scored Keiser, but Garcia was cut down on another close
play at the plate. With a 6-1 lead, the Warriors seemed to be cruising,
but Plano East battled back, pulling to within one run on a two-out grand slam
in the top of the fifth. Nate Karns gave the Warriors a two run cushion in
the bottom of the fifth with a towering home run to right center. Plano
East responded with a 2-run homer of their own in the top of the seventh to tie
the score at seven. With the heart of Martin's order coming to the plate,
things were not looking good for the visitors from Plano. With one out,
sophmore Jordan Imhoff hit the first pitch over the scoreboard in right center
for a "walk off" homer. The win gives the Warriors a 2-0 record in the
Tyde Classic as they look ahead to big games on Friday against Justin Northwest
and Mansfield.
