Game Summary

The Martin bats finally cooled off as they lost a close 5-4 contest to cross-town rival Lamar.   The Vikings took advantage of a couple of Warrior errors to take an early 2-0 lead.  The Warriors closed the gap to 2-1 in the second on singles by Tyler Martin, Kyle Swearingen, and Ryan Nielsen.  In the bottom of the third, Harrison Law reached on an error and Blake Sanders doubled to left to put runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs.  Chris Gildea followed with a single to left center scoring Law, however Sanders was thrown out trying to score from second.  Gildea advanced to third on Tyler Martin's infield single, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Zach Laster putting the Warriors in front 3-2.  The lead was short-lived as Lamar responded with two runs in the top of the fourth inning.  Martin knotted the score at 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth when Swearingen's liner to right was misplayed by the rightfielder scoring Sanders.  Lamar pushed the go ahead run across in the top of the sixth and held on for the victory.  Defensive highlights included Nielsen's diving catch in foul territory.
