Martin 14, Arlington 9
Game Summary
In a real see-saw battle, the Warriors rallied for 7 runs in the seventh inning for a thrilling come-from-behind 14-9 win over cross-town rival Arlington High in front of a large turnout. After jumping out to a 5-0 lead behind a strong outing by Martin starting pitcher Shawn Peoples, a shaky Martin defense allowed the Colts to get back in the game and take the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. In the top of the seventh, Matt Schimpf got things started when he reached on an error. Colin Schickedanz followed with a single to right putting the tying run on base. Harrison Law continued his hot hitting, lining a sharp single into center field to load the bases with no outs. Blake Sanders' double to right tied the game at 9-9. The Colts decided to intentionally walk Chris Gildea to load the bases for Tyler Martin. Martin proceeded to lift a sacrifice fly to right field to score the go ahead run. Zach Laster reached on an error, to set the stage for Brian Nephew's towering 3-run homer to deep left which put the game out of reach. For the night, Nephew had 3 hits and 5 RBIs to lead the Warriors.
