Game Summary

Wow!!!  What a night for the good guys, Part II.  The boys in Red and Black marched onto the Arlington field determined to avenge the only blemish on their district record – and boy did they!!!  The game started off looking like a pitchers duel, as neither team could get a runner past 2^nd base through the 3^rd inning.  Then in the top of the 4^th inning, Martin Right Fielder Eric Hanlon singled to right, Center Fielder Brett Kazmierski doubled to left-center scoring Eric, and Catcher Richard Pumphrey hit the 2^nd pitch he saw over the fence to right for a 2-run HR.  In the 5^th, Warrior 1^st baseman Paul Hovis singled to right and was replaced on the base-paths by Brian Fite, who promptly stole 2^nd, and Logan Batlle walked.  Then Left Fielder Sean Garcia doubled to score Brian.  Eric Hanlon hit a fly ball deep enough to center to score Logan. In the top of the 7^th the Warrior bats cracked again as Sean Garcia got his second double and Brett Kazmierski hit his 1^st HR of the year to run the score to 7-0.  Then Richard Pumphrey singled up the middle, was run for by the speedy Jaren Anderson.  Jaren promptly stole 2^nd then took 3^rd when an errant throw by Arlington pitcher Brian Byrd went to the fence.  He then scored when the Arlington Right-Fielder sailed his throw to 3^rd base over everyone’s head!

Junior pitcher Josh Marshall’s bid for another complete game came up one out short, as he was lifted after surrendering a couple of hits in the bottom half of the 7^th, including a 2 RBI double by Colt Short-stop turned pitcher Brian Byrd.  Turner Thornton came in and – as usual – shut the door.  In addition to the doubles already mentioned, Logan Batlle had one in the 3^rd.  Sean Garcia, Brett Kazmierski and Richard Pumphrey all had 2 hits.
