Martin 14, Arlington 11
Game Summary
A game that was looking like a blowout by the Martin Warriors after taking a 12-1 lead through four innings turned into a much tighter contest as the Arlington Colts rallied for seven runs in the fifth, but ultimately fell short as the Warriors took the victory 14-11, sweeping the season series. The Warriors came out swinging in the first inning, with four consecutive hits to jump to a quick 3-0 lead. The hit parade continued in the second inning as the Warriors strung together five more consecutive hits. Five more Martin hits in the third led to seven runs, with the big blow being Brian Nephew's grand slam to left center. The Colt bats finally awoke in the fourth, but it was too little too late as the Warriors held on for the win. Caleb Pederson started on the mound and got the win. Blake Byrd had two scoreless innings in relief and Zac Zielinski did a nice job of getting the final two outs after entering the game in the seventh inning with runners at second and third. Regan Dixon made his JV debut with a big 4-hit night to lead the Warrior offense.
