Game Summary

Martin 2nd Baseman Logan Batlle - Making The Pivot

Wow!!!  What a night for the good guys!!!  In a match-up of the two teams tied for 1st place in district 7-5A, the boys in Red and Black made a statement.  The first 5 Martin batters had base hits, and all five scored before there were any outs.  Shaun Garcia led off with a bunt single down the 3rd base line.  Eric Hanlon stepped to the plate, intent on moving Sean to 2nd with a bunt – but his bunt was so good he was safe at 1st, as well!  Then Brett Kazmierski decided to get in on the fun, and also bunted safely down the 3rd base line.  Catcher Richard Pumphrey stepped to the plate with the bases loaded, and hit the first pitch he saw back up the middle for a single, scoring Garcia and Hanlon.  Jaren Anderson went in to run for Pumphrey.  With Anderson at 1st and Kazmierski at 2nd, Warrior pitcher Nathan Karns hit the 2nd pitch he saw off of the screen on the Left Field foul pole for a 3 run home run!!!  So in the space of 6 pitches from Duncanville ace Jake Cooper (who came into the game with the best ERA in the area), Martin led the game 5-0.  Then with 2 out in the 3rd inning, designated hitter Josh Marshall hit a double to the fence in Left Center, and Chase Edwards singled to bring him home.  Trent Blanchard and Logan Batlle both followed with singles to load the bases.  Then the Panther pitcher balked to plate another Warrior.  Martin Ace Nathan Karns went the whole way in yet another masterful performance, scattering 4 hits over the 7 innings, fanned 6, and running his record to 5-0.  Shaun Garcia had the only multi-hit game with 2 singles in a night that saw every Martin batter get a hit.
